David Perkins is the Director of Sustainability for Xanterra South Rim LLC. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in conservation biology and has been working in the field of environmental sustainability and compliance since that time. After an 8-year stint in central California working in environmental consulting, David made the move into the hospitality sector and went to work for Xanterra Parks & Resorts. He relocated to southern Utah where he worked as Director of Sustainability covering Xanterra’s Utah operations which included Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks as well as operations at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. David recently accepted a transfer to Grand Canyon South Rim where he is working as Director of Sustainability for Xanterra. David has worked on numerous projects involving all aspects of sustainability including water and energy conservation projects, renewable energy projects, sustainable retail and sustainable cuisine initiatives, solid waste diversion, and hotel and restaurant guest outreach. Xanterra’s mission is to provide Legendary Hospitality with a softer footprint.
