Kevin Ordean is a master’s student at Northern Arizona University Sustainable Communities Program. He has been working on sustainability efforts for the past 4 1/2 years here in Flagstaff. During his undergrad program in Environmental Studies he worked with Campus Climate Challenge as Vice President and then President while the NAU Green Fund was established. He continued to work with the students and is currently on the Board of Directors. He has been on the selection committee for all 3 committees and has supervised interns for the committee. He took over the Student Environmental Caucus, which is currently known as the Green Jacks, and grew the group from 8 members to over 500 before handing it off to new leadership. He continues to serve on the environmental caucus steering committee as a representative for the students. Through that role he has worked on planning the last 3 NAU Earth Weeks as well as the New York Times “times talk” series. He worked with Billy Parish and the Solar mosaic team on building the solar mosaic model, as well as helping him write his book. Recently, he partnered with a colleague from NAU to start Grifforde Industries, LLC, focused on bringing sustainable solutions to consulting and product development. He is enrolled in the Masters of Sustainable Communities program at NAU and is working on developing a thesis around sustainable economic development.
