Steve is a native of Florida who received a BS in Forestry/Wildlife Ecology from the University of Florida in 1973. He has a 40+ year career in the natural resources field, including employment with state and local government, academic institutions, non-profit organizations, and as a private consultant. His areas of expertise involve conservation biology, ecosystem restoration, protected area design and management, project and grant management, non-profit organization leadership, and fundraising.
After working on various environmental issues in Florida, including 18 years with The Nature Conservancy, Steve moved to Tucson Arizona in 1996 to serve as the Executive Director of The Wildlands Project and then as Executive Director of the Society for Ecological Restoration. Moving to Flagstaff to become Director of the Greater Flagstaff Forests Partnership in 2003, he formed his current business in 2007, WildWood Consulting, LLC, which works in the natural resources and non-profit fields.
Among several diverse project currently supported, Steve is Technical Services Program Manager the Coconino Natural Resource Conservation District and Coordinator of the San Francisco Peaks Weed Management Area, and as a GFFP Board member, represents that organization in various forest restoration programs, including serving as a Co-chair of the Four Forest Restoration Initiative Steering Committee.
