SEDI’s October 2012 Innovation Summit offered a space for the Native American Business Incubator to engage the community in an informative discussion of the challenges and opportunities surrounding economic development on tribal lands.
A diverse group of panelists with expertise in business development and planning, including policy makers, business owners, and professionals with technical assistance experience, provided valuable insight regarding three critical areas of concern: lending on tribal nations, community buy-in and cultural sensitivity, and community economic strategy.
The workshop attracted a room filled with people interested in learning more about the strategies for achieving sustainable economic development on tribal lands. The information presented by the panelists contributed to a passionate and thought provoking dialogue, from which the Native American Business Incubator will continue to engage and collaborate in an effort to overcome obstacles to entrepreneurship through innovative solutions.
