As Arizona pulls itself out of the deepest recession that it has faced since the Great Depression, the 105th Arizona Town Hall held November 2-5, 2014 convened to examine Arizona's economy. SEDI was represented by Board member Casey Rooney and Executive Director Eric Marcus.
In Arizona Town Hall's fifty-two year history, this is the eleventh time citizens from across the state have come together to reflect on the current state of Arizona's economy and how best to shape its future.
More than 120 Arizona Town Hall panelists spent an intensive three days together and developed actionable recommendations to Governor-elect Doug Ducey and the Arizona Legislature. The group identified five top priorities for addressing the state's struggling economy:
- Education and workforce development
- Entrepreneurship, local business and expansion of trade
- Establish Arizona as a welcoming, culturally diverse place
A slide presentation developed by Eric Marcus outlines the group's recommendations and was presented at the November 2014 SEDI Board of Directors meeting (download HERE). The full recommendations can be found HERE or at http://www.aztownhall.org/Resources/Documents/105th-Recommendations-Report.pdf.
